INDIANA: Rise of the White River
Twenty years ago, the White River in central Indiana faced a devastating, human-caused fish kill. A corporation dumped chemicals into the river that wiped it clean. All fish within 40-miles of the site were killed.
The community did not take the incident lightly, and took matters into their own hands, stocking the river with millions of fish. Today, it is one of America’s best Smallmouth fisheries.
We travelled to Indiana to fish the White River with Two Forks Guide Service and had the chance to learn more about the fish kill and the river rehab. The passion the community had for their river blew us away. The story of river pollution isn't unique to central Indiana. Hopefully this passion can inspire others to stand up for their water, and protect it.
Special thanks to the incredible Hollie Egglebread and her camera work, and Joel Clifton for capturing stills along the way.
